The rookie manager has made a habit of heaping praise on others when things are going well, and accepting criticism when they arent.  But in the case of Hurtado, its what the coach is NOT saying that may be the secret to a superb run of form. http://www.redskinsfansproshop.com/Redsk...l?cat=1351 . Dalton completed his only pass and led the Bengals to a touchdown in his only drive -- one that took four minutes to finish -- and the Cincinnati Bengals ended the preseason with a 27-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night.Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - John Klingberg scored twice as the Dallas Stars ended a four-game skid with a 5-4 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. Erik Cole and Ales Hemsky each tallied a goal and an assist and Trevor Daley also lit the lamp for the Stars, who have earned points in 11 of their last 12 games against the Senators. Mike Hoffman, Jared Cowen. Clarke MacArthur and Milan Michalek all scored for the Senators, who have lost four of their last five. Robin Lehner allowed all five goals on 29 shots in defeat. OTTAWA - Jean-Gabriel Pageau will be sticking with the Ottawa Senators for a little longer than expected since the team has decided to loan centre Curtis Lazar to the Canadian team for the world junior hockey championship. Mattias Janmark Jersey .Pageau was recalled from AHL Binghamton last Sunday due to an injury to Zack Smith. He has now been pencilled in as Lazars replacement.I said its a win-win, Senators coach Dave Cameron said Thursday. What its going to do is give us a real good look at (Pageau). We think hes a guy in the organization thats done a lot of good in the American Hockey League. He was sent down after he was cut, which Im sure was a major disappointment. We think hes an NHL player so its going to open up an opportunity for him to show what he can do and we feel that he can come in and provide the same role that Curtis was doing.Pageau, who has played in 38 career NHL games, was most impressive during the Senators playoff run in 2013 when he scored a hat trick in a first-round game against the Montreal Canadiens. He played 28 games last season but didnt make the cut out of training camp this season. Senators general manager Bryan Murray said sending Pageau to Binghamton was one of the toughest decisions the organization had to make. The 22-year-old was clearly disappointed, but worked hard in the minors and had 18 points (8-10) in 25 games.Pageau just smiled when asked whether he or Lazar was happier about the world junior loan.I think were both happy, he said. For me its a good thing, it opens up a spot for me for a couple of games, Pageau added. I dont know how long I was supposed to be here or whats going on with me, but for sure its opened up a chance for me and an opportunity and Ill do my best to help the team and for sure I wish him the best.Cameron admitted that with injuries to Smith and Chris Neil, the decision to release Lazar was difficult. However, knowing that Pageau was available to fill the void helped. The head coach added that if Pageau hadnt been playing so well in Binghamton there was a good chance Lazar wouldnt be going to the world juniors.I think thats fair to say, especially with the injury to Smitty, he said. Now you start thinking a little deeper because youre down one less guy. Youre still one less guy in terms of depth because of Smiths injury so its a little more intense for the coach. Ive always said ... I dont make decisions based on fear of injuries. If theyre going to happen, theyre going to happen.Cameron is confident Pageau will fill in nicely for Lazar.I think Pageau can match that, based on his play, he said. Ill have to answer that after Pageau plays some games, but (Im) very confident he can come in and provide us with that. After taking five of a possible six points on their recent road trip, the Senators are looking for a strong finish before the Christmas break. Ottawa has a tough task ahead with three games in four nights starting Friday against the visiting Anaheim Ducks. This past road trip wasnt pretty, but if you told me at the beginning wed be coming home with five out of six points, Id be pretty happy, said forward Kyle Turris. Theres obviously lots of stuff we have to improve and work on, but were moving in the right direction. The pace of our game I think has come up quite a bit. Blake Comeau Jersey .com) - The Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics both entered Wednesday nights game riding lengthy losing streaks. Tyler Pitlick Jersey . The post-season, Pierce said repeatedly, is no time to panic. And the Heat, apparently, are nothing to fear. http://www.authenticstarspro.com/Bobby-s...rs-jersey/ . There is no argument that the line of Pacioretty, David Desharnais and Thomas Vanek was one of the hottest in the NHL leading into the post-season, and they did combine for three goals and seven points, but it was the depth of all four lines that helped propel Montreal.WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards forward Nene has returned to practice after being sidelined six weeks with a sprained knee. Nene practiced Monday for the first time since he was injured Feb. 23 in a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Coach Randy Wittman said Nene did "almost" everything the Brazilian would do in a regular practice. The coach said he would wwait to see how things go on Tuesday before deciding whether Nene plays Wednesday against the Charlotte Bobcats, a pivotal game for playoff seeding in the Eastern Conference. ANAHEIM, Calif. Jordan Whitehead Buccaneers Jersey . -- Danny Valencia was not about to let a sore left hand keep him from finishing his at-bat in the 13th inning. He gutted it out and came up with a key hit to help the Kansas City Royals outlast the Los Angeles Angels. Valencia ignited a three-run rally with a leadoff double, before Jarrod Dyson replaced him on the bases and scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by rookie reliever Mike Morin. The Royals went on to beat the Angels 7-4 Saturday night. "Were trying to win games and lay it all out there. Anybody else would have done the same thing," Valencia said. "Fortunately I got a hit there, because it would have looked even worse if I didnt." Valencia felt discomfort on two earlier swings and was checked out by manager Ned Yost and a trainer. After convincing them he was all right, he lined Morins 3-2 pitch off the fence in left-centre and slid headfirst into second. "There was a 3-1 pitch I fouled off and my hand slipped off the bat a little weird," Valencia said. "I told Ned: Theres no way Im coming out right now. He said: This is a big at-bat, and I said: I know its a big at-bat, but Ive got this. The first thought on my mind was not making someone come off the bench with a 3-2 count after sitting on the bench for four hours." Dyson scored when Morin (0-1) fielded Alcides Escobars sacrifice bunt and threw the ball past first base as second baseman Howie Kendrick ran over to take the throw. "I got to it quick and Howie was still getting to first base," Morin said. "I had more time than I thought I did, and I was trying to guide the ball to meet him at the bag, but it sailed on me." Nori Aoki then hit an RBI single and Billy Butler capped the scoring with his second sacrifice fly. Aaron Crow (2-1) pitched two innings for the victory and Greg Holland got three outs for the save, ending the 4-hour, 53-minute marathon. Eric Hosmer tied a season high with four hits. The Royals tied it in the seventh when Hosmer scored on a double-play grounder by Salvador Perez with the bases loaded. The run was charged to Sean Burnett, who faced only one batter and gave up Hosmers leadoff single through the box. It was Burnetts second appearance since his comeback from elbow surgery last August. Royals right-hander James Shields pitched six innings, giving up four runs and nine hits, including solo homers by Mike Trout and Erick Aybar. "Thats a good hitting team over there. They grind out at-bats and they worked up my pitch count quite a bit today," Shields said. "But our bullpen did a phenomenal job. Its been good all season long, and today they showed why theyre as good as they are." Angels rookie Matt Shoemaker was charged with three runs -- two earned -- and eight hits in five innings while striking out six. The right-hander was making his third start since he was inserted into the rotation on May 13. The Angels were trailing 3-0 when Aybar got them on the board in the fourth inning with his third homer of the season, a line drive that just made it into the first row of seats in the right field corner after a leadoff double by Raul Ibanez. Los Angeles pulled ahead 4-3 with two runs in the fifth. Trout led off with a towering drive into the rock pile beyond the fence in left-centre, and Albert Pujols followed with another deep flyball that looked like it was going out as well. Left fielder Alex Gordon leaped above the bullpen fence and got his glove on it before it bounced off his cap, shoulder, chin and arm -- then landed in his glove while he was on the seat of his pants. Third base umpire Andy Fletcher ruled it a catch, but manager Mike Scioscia challenged the call and Pujols ended up with a double after a video review. "Somebody must have seen something on one of the angles," Yost said. "But on the replays we saw on the big screen, I sure couldnt tell if it hit the fence or not." It was the 2,400th career hit for Pujols, who took third on a groundout and scored the go-ahead run on Shields wild pitch to Aybar. A two-out error by Trout in centre field led to an unearned run during Kansas Citys two-run third. Aoki and Hosmer opened the inning with singles, and Aoki scored on Butlers first sacrifice fly. One out later, Perez hit a sinking liner that broke off Trouts glove as he charged the ball on the dead run, and Lorenzo Cain hit an RBI single. NOTES: Trouts error was his second this season, matching his total in 148 games in the outfield last year. ... Escobar has been successful on 43 of his last 44 stolen base attempts, including all 22 last season. ... For the second straight year, Trouts 10th homer of the season came against the Royals in his 47th game. ... Neither starting pitcher had a 1-2-3 inning. John Lynch Jersey . The thunderous cheers quickly changed to an appreciative chant: "Ma-son! Ma-son! Ma-son! Headed to New York with new life, Mason sure earned this curtain call. M.J. Stewart Jersey . The 18-year-old Januzaj has made his breakthrough at United this season, including scoring twice in a 2-1 win over Sunderland before the recent international break. His performances have sparked a debate about where his international future lies. http://www.shopbuccaneersauthentic.com/Y...te-Jersey/ . Aaron Hill and Cliff Pennington hit home runs in the first inning for the Diamondbacks, who beat the Miami Marlins 3-2 on Friday night.MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Brendan Gallagher to a six-year contract extension worth a reported US$22.5 million on Saturday. The deal will pay Gallagher $5.5M in 2015-16, $4.5M in 2016-17, $2.75M in 2017-18, $3M in 2018-19, $4M in 2019-20 and $2.75M in 2020-21.Its never about the money. The most important thing for me was getting the six years, said Gallagher. When that was proposed, I was just excited to have the opportunity to continue to build on what we have. We have a great group of guys, guys who want to come to the rink and improve every day.Gallagher has five goals and seven assists in 24 games with Montreal this season. In 149 regular-season games with the Canadiens, the 22-year-old has recorded 81 points (39 goals, 42 assists). He doesnt take a shift off, he never has, said Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin. The effort is always there, and his character is off the charts. Hes always in the paint, he works hard, he gets loose pucks, and hes not afraid of anything. He competes night in and night out.The way Brendan performs on the ice, hes always around the net. Whether youre six-foot-eightt, or six-foot-one, he plays the same way. Jason Pierre-Paul Buccaneers Jersey. His foot is always on the accelerator. The Edmonton native was selected by Montreal in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL draft — 147th overall. He was named to the NHL all-rookie team in 2012-13.Brendan has shown from Day 1 that he loves Montreal, and he wants to be a Montreal Canadien, said Bergevin, who added the deal was roughly one month in the making. Hes proud, and he loves the city and its fans. That made it even easier. The deal means Gallagher will don a Canadiens sweater until the end of the 2020-21 season. Bergevin, historically reticent to follow an entry-level deal with a long-term extension, said Gallaghers contract made a lot of sense for the organization. At the end of the day, we feel comfortable, said Bergevin. Its always a risk going long-term with any player. We felt this time that the risk was worth it.To have that kind of trust and commitment coming off an entry-level deal is definitely pretty cool, said Gallagher. Its something Im very appreciative of. Now I have to show them that they made the right decision putting their trust in me.   MILWAUKEE -- A subdued Bronson Arroyo captured the mood in a sombre Cincinnati locker

MILWAUKEE -- A subdued Bronson Arroyo captured the mood in a sombre Cincinnati locker room Sunday after the Reds blew a late three-run lead and lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 on Sean Haltons game-ending home run. Grant Hill Jersey . "That is probably as crushing of a defeat as weve had all year," Arroyo said. The loss dealt a blow to Reds pursuit of the NL Central title, although the team still has a hold on one of the wild-card spots. Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker said his team is feeling the pain of the loss. "We can still finish strong, but that is not going to take away the sting we feel today," Baker said. "You have to feel the sting today and get over it tomorrow because we have another series tomorrow. This does hurt. It really hurts." Haltons home run with one out in the ninth came off reliever Zach Duke (1-2), the fifth Cincinnati pitcher. It was Haltons third homer of the season and first career walk-off. "As a kid growing up, I wanted to be a baseball player and a major leaguer. Thats the top of the mountain," Halton said. Haltons big blow came after Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez made a game-saving catch on a deep drive by Jay Bruce with two runners on and two outs in the top of the ninth. Gomez extended over the centre field fence to take away a home run from Bruce. "Same thing happened to us last time we came in. Gomez robbed us of a potential game-winning home run," Baker said. "I thought Jay got that ball." Gomez also threw out Brandon Phillips at third base earlier in the game. "Im expecting (Bruce) to hit the ball to centre field or the gap because hes an aggressive hitter and I moved a few steps to the right side and I could follow the ball all the way through and get close to the fence," Gomez said. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke noted that Gomez has made several home run-saving catches this season. "That was really well-timed. He knew he had plenty of time, plenty of distance away from the wall," Roenicke said. "Hes good at it. Hes made a lot of them." Bruce said the Reds need to put the loss behind them. "It is not always going to go our way, but there are 12 or 13 games left. We are fine," he said. "Obviously we would have liked to play better this series, but we cant change the past now. You have to go forward and take advantage of the opportunities in front of us." Jean Segura sparked an eighth-inning rally with a two-run triple after Reds relievers walked the first two batters of the inning. Jonathan Lucroy followed with a sacrifice fly to tie it. Jim Henderson (4-5) pitched a scoreless inning in relief to pick up the win. The Brewers survived a shaky outing by starter Yovani Gallardo, who was tagged for five runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out five. Arroyo surrendered two runs on three hits over 6 1-3 innings. He walked four, struck out one and didnt give up a hit until Segura singled leading off the fourth. "I felt good through the sixth, but I was having a little bit of control problems with my sinker, it was moving too much off the plate," Arroyo said. Arroyo got into a bit of trouble in the seventh, walking the first two batters before retiring Caleb Gindl on a fly ball. He departed after issuing his third walk of the inning. The Brewers then scored a run on a fielders choice before Cincinnati reliever Sam LeCure retired Jeff Bianchi on a groundout to end the threat. The Reds got on the board in the first inning when Gallardo laboured through a 39-pitch inning. Phillips had a run-scoring single, Ryan Ludwick drew a bases-loaded walk and Zach Cozart delivered a sacrifice fly to help the Reds jump out to a 3-0 lead. Todd Fraziers RBI single with two outs in the third extended Cincinnatis lead to 4-0. Gindls leadoff homer in the fifth gave Milwaukee its first run of the game, cutting the lead to 4-1. Fraziers homer leading off the sixth pushed the Reds advantage back to four. NOTES: Reds RHP Johnny Cueto, who hasnt pitched since June 28 due to an injured back muscle, is scheduled to start Monday against Houston. ... Arroyo reached 30 starts for the ninth consecutive season, an active streak bettered only by Torontos Mark Buehrle, who has done it 13 years in a row. Joe Smith Jersey . LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals have put starting pitchers Michael Wacha and Jaime Garcia on the 15-day disabled list. The Cardinals made the moves Sunday after their 5-3 win over Philadelphia. The right-handed Wacha has a stress fracture in his pitching shoulder. He is 5-5 with a 2.79 ERA for the defending NL champions. Garcia has re-aggravated his surgically repaired left shoulder. He is 3-1 with a 4.12 ERA. St. Louis general manager John Mozeliak said it was too early to determine when the players will return. He said the team was aware of Garcias soreness, but the Wacha ailment took him by surprise. "This was a little shocking to all of us," Mozeliak said. "In terms of how long hes going to be out, I dont know that. Were going to give him a couple weeks and see how he is and then re-evaluate. Chauncey Billups Jersey. " Wacha said he has not felt right the last couple starts. "Its just tightness, it just takes a little bit longer to warm up," Wacha said. "Its a little discomfort, something Im not used to." Garcia missed all but nine starts last season and underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum. He could be forced to undergo a third surgery. Wacha was the MVP of the NL championship series as a rookie last season throwing 13 2-3 shutout innings against Los Angeles. Garcia went 26-15 between 2010 and 2011 before suffering shoulder injuries the next two seasons. Mozeliak indicated that Carlos Martinez will likely remain in the starting rotation. Even though they played last night, they showed a lot of fight, Booker said of the Sixers, who made only 32.4 percent from the floor and committed 18 turnovers for 19 Utah points. The Jazz outrebounded the Sixers, 55-44, and held a 52-30 edge in points in the paint. Gordon has scored at least 14 points in 10 straight games, posting an average of 18.9 ppg in that stretch. Utah is 5-11 on the road, but has won three of four away from Salt Lake City. After the Jazz visit the Clippers, they will host Minnesota and Atlanta. Los Angeles has defeated Utah twice this season and is unbeaten in the last 11 games in this series, matching the longest consecutive winning streak against an opponent in Clippers franchise history. The Clippers won 11 in a row against Dallas from 1992-1994. The Jazz have lost six straight as the visitor in this series. LA and Utah will meet again Jan. 28 in Salt Lake City. TORONTO -- Jose Bautista had a game to remember. Darwin Barney Jersey . The Toronto Blue Jays right-fielder had his 15th homer of the season, hit into a triple play, threw a runner out at home and was interfered with by a fan as he tried to catch a foul ball in the ninth that resulted in an out after a video review. To top it off, the Blue Jays defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 3-1 for their sixth win in a row on Friday. "I think its got to be the most eventful game Ive had in my career," said Bautista, who also extended his hit streak to 12 games. "Id like to see if anyone can find somebody else with that combination of plays." Right-hander Marcus Stroman pitched into the seventh inning in his second major-league start, both of them wins. He walked off to a standing ovation. "Its pretty special," Stroman said. "I tried to do my best tough guy impersonation and tried not to smile. But it was definitely pretty special walking off." Bautista lined into a triple play in the sixth inning, the seventh time a triple play had beeen turned by a Blue Jays opponent. It was the first triple play against Toronto since May 12, 2008, in the second game of a doubleheader at Cleveland. "Its the first time its happened to me," Bautista said. Stroman (3-0) held the Cardinals to one run on seven hits, two walks and a hit batter while striking out seven. He was lifted after a leadoff single in the seventh by Tony Cruz. Casey Janssen pitched the ninth inning for his 11th save of the season. Janssens second out came as a result of fan interference when Bautista tried to catch a foul ball hit by Cruz. The play was reviewed and Cruz was called out. "I just felt that somebody stuck a glove right in my face," Bautista said, "And I felt there was some contact there that prevented me from making the play. Obviously (the fan) was caught up in the emotion, just like everybody else. The ball is coming to him, he wants a ball hit by a major-leaguer at a major-league baseball game. Hes not thinking about the play the way I am so you cant blame him for it. But again it doesnt matter they reviewed it and made the right call." Right-hander Lance Lynn (6-4) took the loss, allowing six hits -- including two home runs -- and four walks while striking out six in five innings. The Cardinals (31-31) scored a run in the first. Matt Carpenter led off with a walk and took third on Matt Hollidays ground-rule double to right. Allen Craig singled to right to score Carpenter but Holliday was thrown out at home by Bautista. "I think its always a good play when you can throw anybody out and prevent a run." Bautista said. "Whether (Stroman) needed that at that moment in the game thats more for him to answer, not me. I think he still would have pitched a pretty good game. "The ball was hit to me at the right rate of speed. And I had a chance to throw him out. Dioner (Navarro) made a play terrific play, a fine play because my throw wasnt as good as it could have been and he still managed to catch the ball as it was going toward the runner and stay away from the running lane that they now have to give and still tag him out. So that was a pretty good play." Second baseman Brett Lawrie followed it up with a fine play on Yadier Molinas grounder to end the inning. "That is just huge momentum and puts you back into your groove and kind of lets you know your guys are behind you." Stroman said. "Right out of the gate he struggled a little bit but then he started using all his pitches," manager John Gibbons said. "He was primarily pumping the fastballs in there and when he started using his breaking ball, his change-up a little bit, it made all the difference in the world." St. Louis manager Mike Matheny acknowledged that Stroman kept the Cardinals hitters on their heels. "He kept us off balance," said Mike Matheny. "He had good life on his fastball. We saw a lot of swings and misses, probably more swings and misses than what we saw on any kind of video we had on him, with his breaking ball. I thought his breaking ball was more of a weapon today than what wed seen in the past." The Blue Jays (38-24) left the bases loaded in the bottom of the first and stranded two in the second. But they tied it 1-1 in the third when Bautista led off with a homer, a high drive to left on a 2-1 fastball. Lawrie lined his 11th homer of the season to centre on a 2-1 fastball with two out in the fifth to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead. Bautista hit into a triple play in the sixth inning on a liner to second baseman Descalso. The Blue Jays loaded the bases against right-handed reliever Seth Maness with singles from Anthony Gose and Jose Reyes and Carpenters error on a grounder to third by Melky Cabrera. Bautista lined a 2-0 sinker to Descalso who threw to shortstop Jhonny Peralta who caught Reyes off second. Peralta then threw to Craig who stepped on first before Cabrera could return to the base. "I did everything I could," Bautista said. "I laid off two bad pitches, swung at the one in the zone, hit it hard and it went right at somebody." The Blue Jays scored a run in the eighth. Lawrie and Navarro singled against right-hander Jason Motte to put runners at first and third. Reyes singled to right to cash in Lawrie and send pinch-runner Kevin Pillar to third. KIRKLAND, Wash. Luis Gonzalez Jersey . -- A November trial has been set for U.S. womens goalkeeper Hope Solo, who is accused of assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew in June. Solo, who also plays with the Seattle Reign of the National Womens Soccer League, appeared in court in Kirkland, Washington, on Monday. In June, she pleaded not guilty to two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence. KOMO-TV reports her lawyer has filed a motion to dismiss the case. Her lawyer has said Solo was a victim in the altercation. A Nov. 4 trial means Solo wont miss time with the Reign or Octobers CONCACAF qualifying tournament for the 2015 World Cup in Canada. Solo appeared in court accompanied by her husband, former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens. Jarrod Dyson Jersey .5 million. The exact figure for the 2014-15 hasnt been set yet, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said Thursday following a meeting of the leagues board of governors, but he hoped it would be worked out with the players association in time for the start of the two-day entry draft Friday in Philadelphia. The final number is expected to be in the high $60 millions or low $70 millions. That gives general managers a guideline as they head into the draft and the free-agent shopping season that begins on Tuesday. "We hope to have a mutual understanding as to what the cap will be within the next day, hopefully at the latest," Bettman said. "Its something that obviously we do in conjunction with the players association. "There have been ongoing meetings, but our goal would be to move this as quickly as possible. But we have a dance partner and we want to make sure the music is playing appropriately and were both hearing the same things." Many team officials rushed out of the midtown Manhattan hotel where Thursdays meeting took place and headed to Philadelphia for the draft, which will open with the first round Friday night and conclude with rounds 2-7 on Saturday. Teams that have large amounts of cap space can already make their off-season plans, whether it be trades or free-agent signings, without knowing the final cap number. "I expect to see a lot more trades than we normally see," Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher said. "Well see a lot more trades, in my opinion, that dont even involve draft picks. Hockey trades. Theres so much parity in the league, everyone is trying to get ahead. I think some teams look at free agency as not an ideal route. I think there will be a lot of movement." Last seasons salary cap sat at $64.3 million, quite a jump from the original cap number of $39 million, established after the lockout-cancelled season of 2004-05. The only time the cap number dropped from the previous season was in 2012-13 following another lockout when the figure was set at $60 million after being $64.3 in 2011-12. Bettman said number-crunching was still being done to determine wwhat the leagues revenues were last season, but he declared they were at an all-time high. Custom Arizona Diamondbacks Jerseys. "It is a record number, which is a testament to the strength of the game and our fans, and how competitive things are," he said. Also discussed Thursday were a host of potential rules changes that have already passed through the leagues competition committee and the general managers, who met earlier this month in New York during the Stanley Cup finals. There were no hurdles involved in those proposed adjustments, and the new rules are on track to be approved by the players association. "There are things that we need to consult with the players association on," Bettman said "I would prefer to do that before we make any formal announcements. I think its better for the process that way." The biggest possible changes revolve around the 5-minute overtime period in the regular season. The league would like to create more overtime goals and have fewer shootouts. The proposal includes doing a scrape of the ice before overtime instead of before the shootout to give a cleaner surface to play on, and having teams change direction after the third period to create a longer change to the benches. "In our game now, the way its played, teams play so hard," said Hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille, now the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings president of business operations. "Players are so good, and when theres not a lot of room, suddenly one bad change and it ends up on a 2-on-1 or a 3-on-2. "It does make a difference. This certainly will open up a few plays here and there. That long change is always a hard thing for most teams." Also subject to change are penalties for faceoff infractions after icings, which could result in a delay-of-game penalty, the configuration of faceoff circles, increasing the size of the trapezoid behind the net, and tougher penalties for embellishment. "Very consistent with the discussions with the competition committee and with the general managers," Bettman said of Thursdays talks. "When everything is neatly bundled up, well issue a formal release giving you the details on all of that." LOS ANGELES -- Victor Martinez helped the Detroit Tigers overcome the struggles of Joe Nathan. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Di...in-Jersey/ . The Detroit Tigers closer blew a three-run lead in the ninth inning Wednesday night against the Dodgers. But Martinez picked him up in a big way with a leadoff home run in the 10th against Los Angeles closer Kenley Jansen, and Detroit pulled out a 7-6 victory in which both pitching staffs made a combined 382 pitches during the 4 hour, 16-minute marathon. "Kenley Jansen is filthy, but Victor Martinez is a professional hitter," Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter said. "Hes at the plate, just trying to figure you out, and I think he figured out how Jansens ball moves. "He was able to get inside of it and hit it out of the ballpark and come up with another clutch hit. Thats what this team is capable of doing. We have some veteran guys who have good at-bats and can get the job done." Martinez drove a 2-2 pitch deep into the pavilion seats in right-centre to make a winner of Nathan (2-0). One night earlier, Martinez tied the score with a two-out single in the ninth against Jansen before the Dodgers pulled out a 3-2 victory in 10. "Vic takes hitting very seriously, and I think his main focus is to just try to get the barrel of the bat to the ball," manager Brad Ausmus said. "If you watch him on a regular basis, hes fighting to do that. And if a pitcher is trying to get him out, Victor is going to make it very difficult for him -- especially with men on base." Joba Chamberlain gave up a single to Hanley Ramirez to open the 10th. But left-hander Ian Krol struck out Adrian Gonzalez and Andre Ethier, and Al Albuquerque retired Matt Kemp on a grounder to get his first major league save. Nathan, who said during a radio interview earlier in the day that he was experiencing a "dead arm" -- and reiterated those thoughts in the clubhouse before batting practice, was trying to protect a 6-3 lead for Anabel Sanchez. But Gonzalez led off with a home run to centre field, and the Dodgers loaded the bases with walks to Ethier and Kemp and a single by Juan Uribe. Yasiel Puig, who wasnt in the starting lineup for the third straight game because of a strained ligament in his left thumb, batted for Tim Federowicz and struck out. Pinch-hitter Scott Van Slyke got a run home with a fielders choice grounder before Dee Gordon singled to right field, delivering Kemp with the tying run. "Joes stuff looked as crisp as weve see it, and he said he felt like that was the best stuff hes had, in terms of the break on his slider and the way the fastball came out of his hand," Ausmus said. "So maybe once he got out there, his arm played a little better than he mentioned earlier." Detroits Nick Castellanos helped spoil Josh Becketts long-awaited return with a three-run homer, his first in the big leagues. Sanchez allowed three runs -- one earned -- and six hits over five innings and struck out six. Beckett threw 85 pitches through four innings, giving up five runs -- four earned -- and five hits while striking out five. The three-time All-Star, who joined the Dodgers in a nine-player megadeal with Boston in August 2012, made only 15 starts with them prior to this one because of injuries that had sidelined him since his previous outing on May 13 of last season. Beckett gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead in the second, laying down a suicide-squeeze bunt in front of the plate with Uribe charging down the line. It was Becketts first RBI since June 14, 2009, when he homered against J.A. Happ in an interleague game at Philadelphia. But the Tigers pulled ahead 5-3 in the third when Castellanos drove a pitch to centre field, and the ball skimmed off the top of the eight-foot fence before landing on the other side. "It was just rust," Beckett said. "After the first inning it was just a baseball game. I felt good in that fourth inning." Hunter did not play because of a bruised left knee, which occurred Tuesday when he tried to make a sliding catch of a foul ball by Federowicz near the short padded wall in front of the grandstand. "I came here early today, trying to get it loosened up, and its still swollen," Hunter said. "I cant really do too much about it. But its only been a little over 24 hours, so what were going to do is just take it one day at a time. My plan is to come back Friday, but if its still a little sore, we want to get rid of it early in the season so Ill be able to perform for my ballclub." NOTES: One of A.J. Ellis biggest regrets about going on the disabled list Tuesday was missing this series against the Tigers and Ausmus, his teammate during Ausmus final two major league seasons (2009-10). "I was fortunate to catch in the major leagues before I met Brad, but I wasnt a major league catcher until after I met Brad," Ellis said a day after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. "The two-year mentorship he gave me was what turned me into the catcher I am today. He taught me how to prepare a game plan, how to take care of my body in between starts, how to be a better teammate, and how my focus should be on my pitching staff only." http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Sa...ez-Jersey/ . The third-seeded Bouchard, from Westmount, Que., was coming off a semifinal appearance at the French Open. She took the opening set before the unseeded American came back for the 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Th...ey-Jersey/ . Judging by his performance Saturday night, Cotto has plenty left in the tank. The good things for Gonzalezs Braves on Monday night were a barrage of Mets errors which handed Atlanta the win. Three errors by New York fueled Atlantas comeback as the Braves scored four runs in the eighth and beat the Mets 5-3 for their fifth straight win. "We were never giving up, never giving any at-bats away," Gonzalez said. "Its the perfect example of putting the ball in play." The error-prone Mets wouldnt let the Braves give up. Errors by reliever Jeurys Familia (1-3), centre fielder Juan Lagares and third baseman Eric Campbell in the eighth helped the Braves rally from a 3-1 deficit. "Weve got to catch the baseball better," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "We didnt catch the baseball tonight." Anthony Varvaro (3-1) pitched one scoreless inning to earn the victory. Craig Kimbrel recorded the final three outs for his 25th save. The Braves announced late in the game that catcher Evan Gattis will be placed on the 15-day disabled list after an MRI revealed a bulging thoracic disk in his back. Curtis Granderson had two hits, including a homer, for the Mets. Trailing 3-1, the Braves loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth against Familia. Following singles by Justin Upton and Jason Heyward, Chris Johnson hit a soft grounder to Familia, who threw low to shortstop Ruben Tejada at second base for an error on what could have been a double play. "I tried to be too quick throwing to the base," Familia said. "It was my fault. Its tough because you work for something and you have a chance to make the double play and you dont make it." Tommy La Stellas single up the middle drove in Upton, and Heyward scored the tying run when Lagares bobbled the ball in centre for another error. With one out, pinch-hitter Ryan Doumits walk loaded the bases again. Campbell, the Mets fill-in third baseman while David Wright sits with a bruised left rotator cuff, bobbled Andrelton Simmons grounder for the third error of the inning, allowing Johnson to score the go-ahead run. Dana Eveland replaced Familia and walked Freddie Freeman, pushing Atlantas lead to two runs. Gattis,, hitting . Rookie Christian Bethancourt, who made his first home start, and veteran Gerald Laird will be Atlantas primary catchers for at least two weeks. New Yorks Zack Wheeler was in position for the win before the Mets eighth-inning collapse. He gave up one run on four hits and five walks in 6 1-3 innings. The Braves were held without a hit until Heyward led off the fourth with a double. The Braves scored one run in the fifth. B.J. Upton, who hit a leadoff single and moved to third on Simmons single, scored on Freemans fly ball to left field. Atlantas Alex Wood allowed three runs on six hits in six innings. He gave up runs in each of the first three innings and then recorded 11 straight outs. Granderson opened the game with his 11th homer. It was his 26th career leadoff homer. Travis dArnauds double drove in Chris Young, who reached on a single, in the second. Youngs flyball drove in Daniel Murphy from third base in the third. Collins successfully challenged a ruling that B.J. Upton stole second base in the third inning. The safe call was overturned following the review, which lasted 1 minute, 15 seconds. Uptons slide easily beat the throw, but the replay showed he was tagged when he bounced off the bag at the end of his pop-up slide. Running from right field, Heyward made a sliding catch in foul territory on Tejadas fly ball to open the fifth. LONDON - Tony Romo practiced Thursday for the first time since arriving in London, and the Dallas Cowboys quarterback says his injured back is getting better. Cheap Carolina Panthers Jerseys Online .Romo missed last Sundays loss to the Arizona Cardinals because of his third back injury in 18 months. He skipped Wednesdays practice following the teams arrival Tuesday.Well keep taking it day by day and just see what happens, Romo said. Its improving each day and I think we did some things today that were positive. Just keep going in that direction, I think well have a good chance (of playing Sunday). The Cowboys (6-3) play the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8) at Wembley Stadium in the last of three regular-season games in London this year. They have lost their last two games, however, with backup Brandon Weeden playing last weekend.Romo has fractures in two small bones in his back. The injury is unrelated to a herniated disk last year or to off-season surgery to remove a cyst earlier in 2013.The quarterback said Thursday he was still a little sore, but called it normal stuff and said his back loosened up during practice. If youre always waiting to feel great to play in every game you play in, youre only going to play a couple of games a year, he said. The best players are the guys who are able to play at the same level with stuff going on.Even though Romo practiced, Dallas coach Jason Garrett is still not sure who will start. We would never put a player in harms way. Obviously its a very physical sport that we play, Garrett said. He (Romo) has to be functional. He has to be able to protect himself.Against the Cardinals, Weeden threw two interceptions and had one late touchdown. So for the Cowboys, who have a bye next week, getting Romo on the field is a priority if they want to end the two-game losing streak.Even if he is in a little pain.No one cares once you actually step on the field on Sunday whether youre banged up or not, Romo said. Its just about what you do when youre out there. Each day you just get incrementally better, you improve. Im feeling better. I think its getting to a point where you can manage it.Cowboys owner Jerry Jones watched practice and said Romo had a comfortable flight to London.Im anticipating him playing, he said. It is a quick turnaround in a pivotal period for City, and Pellegrini addressed the issue after Tuesdays first leg ended in a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium - pointing out that Madrid have a kinder schedule as they travel to Real Sociedad on Saturday. Before we go to Madrid, we must continue here in the Premier League against a difficult team in Southampton with three very important points, he said wearily. Unfortunately for us, we are going to have one day less resting than Real Madrid, who play on Saturday. With Manchester United hoping to make up ground in fifth place and Arsenal also vying to finish as high up the table as possible, City can ill afford to drop points on the south coast, where they face an in-form Saints side who have won four of their last six games. So how have City coped after midweek Champions League fixtures this season? Well, with five wins, three draws and two losses, their record is mixed. City suffered defeats to West Ham and Manchester United immediately after clashes with Juventus and Dynamo Kiev, and there were also disappointing draws with United and Aston Villa after their group-stage meetings with Sevilla. City eased to a 3-0 win over Chelsea after beating Paris Saint-Germain in April Pellegrini faces important decisions on his team selection as he eyes a repeat of those results on Sunday. Does he stick with his strongest side to give them the best possible chance of beating Southampton? Or does he rotate to keep things fresh between Citys meetings with Madrid?Recent history suggests he is likkely to tweak his line-up. Stitched Carolina Panthers Jerseys. City have made a minimum of three changes in eight of the 10 games that have directly followed their Champions League fixtures this season. Pellegrini will have to decide whether to rest the likes of Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero, while he is also expected to be without David Silva, who suffered an injury on Tuesday night. Saskatchewan Roughriders running back Kory Sheets is taking a shot down South. Roy Halladay Jersey . The 2013 Grey Cups Most Valuable Player has signed with the Oakland Raiders. Sheets, 28, had played the last two seasons with the Roughriders, compiling 2,875 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in 31 games. He set a Grey Cup record for rushing yards in the 101st Game this past November in Regina, totaling 197 yards. This is not Sheets first NFL attempt as he was initially signed by the San Francisco 49ers in 2009. He would not see any game action with San Francisco but would appear in two games with the Miami Dolphins later in the 2009 season. A training camp injury would derail his 2010 season and he would be waived in 2011 by the Dolphins. He signed to the Carolina Panthers practice squad that same year but failed to see a game.  Sheets was named a 2013 CFL All-Star, finishing second in the League in rushing yards (1,598) behind only Calgarys Jon Cornish. Brandon first questioned the benefits of the "Bills In Toronto" series during a meeting with Wood and fellow team captains about a month ago. "He knew that a lot of players have expressed some harsh feelings toward Toronto," Wood said Wednesday. "And he basically told us as captains that he was going to do whatever it takes around here to win. And thats something he wanted to address." Brandon went public with his concerns during his weekly show on Buffalos WGR-AM earlier in the day. While noting the Bills games north of the border have boosted the small-market franchises revenues, Brandon added that they havent paid off in wins. Following a 34-31 overtime loss to Atlanta on Sunday, Buffalo dropped to 1-5 in Toronto since the series was established in 2008. "It has been a challenged market there, and certainly has not translated into enough wins for us there," Brandon said. "Nothing comes above winning. When I took over the reins on Jan. 1, I said that was the No. 1 focus, and that will be the No. 1 focus. Thats one of the reasons that this will be reviewed in a grand manner." Brandon stopped short of saying the Bills would consider or be allowed to opt out of the four remaining years of the deal, which they renewed in January with Toronto-based Rogers Communications. "Im going to look at everything. Ill just leave it at that," Brandon said, before being asked a second time whether the Bills can opt out. "My focus in this organization is simple, to put ourselves in the position to win championships and sustain success. Period. Nothing comes above that." Wood has been among several players who have criticized the series. He called the games in Toronto "a joke" last year following a 50-17 loss to Seattle. Last week, receiver Stevie Johnson questioned whether the warm-weather Falcons "fixed" the schedule in getting to play indoors at the domed Rogers Centre, and avoid the wintry conditions -- and traditionally more raucous environment -- at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchardd Park, N. Jose Bautista Jersey. Y. The loss put a big dent in the Bills chances of staying in the AFC playoff race. At 4-8, Buffalo plays three of its final four on the road, beginning with a trip to Tampa Bay (3-9) on Sunday. Buffalo is in jeopardy of extending the NFLs longest active post-season drought to 14 seasons. And the Bills will go a ninth straight year without a winning record. The Bills are 0-4 at Toronto during December. Their lone win came on Oct. 30, 2011, when they defeated Washington 23-0. Rogers officials declined to comment on Brandons statements. So did NFL vice-president Christopher Parsons, who heads the leagues international offices. The Bills made the decision to play games in Toronto, about a 2-hour drive from Buffalo, in a bid to expand their fan base and generate additional revenue from Canadas largest city and financial capital. A lack of home-team support and poor attendance remain issues since the series started. The announced crowd of 38,969 on Sunday was by far the smallest of the series, and well short of the stadiums NFL capacity of 46,470, not including suites. Rogers did announce the first four regular-season games had been sellouts before later acknowledging the totals included thousands of free tickets. The games also attract a larger than usual contingent of visiting team supporters. Several Atlanta players were pleasantly surprised to see a notable number of fans wearing Falcons jerseys in the stands on Sunday. "The crazy part is we had a lot of support here," Falcons safety William Moore said. "It didnt feel like we were in Canada." The series has generated revenue and lured more southern Ontario fans back to Buffalo. The Bills estimate Canadians now make up about 15 per cent of their season ticket base. That rivals the number of season ticket holders the Bills get from nearby Rochester. As part of the initial five-year deal, Rogers agreed to pay $78 million to essentially lease eight Bills home games: five regular season and three preseason. The final preseason game was eventually dropped because of scheduling difficulties. In exchange, the Bills earned more than double what they usually generated from hosting games in Buffalo. The value of the most recent deal has not been revealed.
